We are the Longdon Family, David 39, Stephanie 38, Ebony 12, Hayden 8 and Jar Jar Binks the dog 4, we have decided to sell up everything and travel around Australia, we had a beautiful house and great job and have decided to give it all up to spend a year together as a family seeing this beautiful country Australia

Quinns Rocks Beach Perth!! 28th November 2010

We said goodbye to Dick and Jude at Quinns Rocks, they were staying in Perth and we started to head down south of Perth to have a look, we had a great time with Dick and Jude but the crayfishing days are over.......for now.

Two Rocks!!! 27th November 2010

We went to Two Rocks and Yanchep for a visit, it was lovely there we ended up parking our vans at the Marina and stayed for the day and then went to the Two Rocks Lookout to stay the night.

Guilderton!! 27th November 2010

We stopped at Guilderton to have a look but no spots to put the cray pot, unless you had a boat so we continued on our way, it was a beautiful spot but not dog friendly at all.

Sandy Cape National Park!! 25th November 2010

We decided to head down south with Dick and Jude to see if we could find some more spots to drop the cray pot, we stopped at Sandy Cape Recreation Park, it was a beautiful spot in a lovely bay, Dave and Ebony went for a swim to see if they could see any crays but they got bitten by sea lice so they got out quicky. We decided it was time to have the 3 crayfish we caught for dinner, we all got half a cray each and they were delicious!!!

Crayfish at Seven Mile Beach!!!! 19th November 2010

We had the best time at Seven Mile Beach near Dongara in WA, Dick and Jude found out about this free camp site and let us know, so off we went, its only meant to be a 72 hour camp but we stayed for a week, Mary and Selwin Body were on holidays so we asked them to come and join us aswell and we had a great time, beautiful roast dinners, lots of fishing and we tried some diving for crayfish and there was heaps, Ebony had a ball trying to catch them but we could not catch one, so Dick and Dave decided to buy a craypot and get a licence, they dragged it out to sea and......day one, no crays.......day two, 2 crays but they got away.......day three, one cray...... and day four, 14 crays only 2 that were size, so a total of 3 crays, we could have just brought some crays from the shop cheaper but the entertainment was priceless. Dick and Dave got to spend a day out on one of the crayboats to see how it was done, they had a great day and we all had a fantastic week, all Dave talks about is going back up north to Seven Mile Beach.

Geraldton!!! November 18th 2010

On our way to Dongara we stopped at Geraldton and went to the HMAS Sydney memorial and went and did some shopping!!!

Kalbarri!!! 12th November 2010


We finally got to meet up with our friends from Tom Price Dick and Jude in Kalbarri, Dick and Dave were all set to try to dive for some crayfish but it wasnt quite season so we tried a bit of fishing instead not a lot of luck there either but we had a great time, we also met up with the Telford family again so the kids had a great time at the beach, Kalbarri is a beautiful place, there is a lot to see and do, but lots of flies and wind.

Monkey Mia......Wow......Fantastic!!!! 10th November 2010

Wow....... Monkey Mia what a fantastic place, it was like being on a tropical island, we stayed for one night and had a fantastic time, we met up with the Telford family again so the kids had a great time, Emma is 12 and Maddie is 10, so they all got along really well, the girls got a big surprise when they were snorkling a couple of Dolphins came in by surprise and decided to swim with the girls, when the girls saw them they screamed....lol, but they were so excited to see the Dolphins.

Red Bluff Camp site 10th November 2010

We stayed the night at the Red Bluff camp site, we had to get a permit to stay there, but we had a great spot on the river and we met up with The Telford Family we had met at Quobba, Dave did some fishing and Ebo nearly caught a huge fish but it got away (the one that got away)

Carnarvon!!! 5th November 2010

Dave and Hayden went for a ride on the one mile jetty at Carnarvon and Ebony and I went to the shops and did some shopping, we all had a great day visiting Carnarvon

Quobba Blowholes 3rd November 2010

On our way to Carnarvon we decided to stop at the Quobba Blowholes, we were lucky the day we arrived the blowholes were huge they would have blown about 20mt in the air, the kids loved it and we all got nice and wet, we found a camp site just near the blowholes and ended up staying there for a week we enjoyed it so much, we had the best corol we have seen a stone throw from our caravan and we had the best views on the beach overlooking the little island and it was all free!!!

Coral Bay!!! 2nd November 2010

After our stay at Cape Range we headed down to Coral Bay, we stayed a couple of days and went snorkling, the beach was beautiful

Cape Range National Park 30th October 2010

Cape Range National Park was great, we stayed at the Yardie Creek Caravan Park because they allowed dogs and we drove into the National Park and went to all the beautiful spots and did lots of snorkling and fishing, the corol was beautiful and there was lots of lovely colourful fish.

Bundegi Beach!! 26th October 2010

We went for a day trip to Bundegi beach, it was a beautiful spot and we went for a swim and looked at the corol

Exmouth!!! 26th October 2010

We stayed at the Exmouth Ningaloo Resort for a few days, the kids had a great time, they had a lovely pool so the kids went in everyday

Onslow!!! 21st October 2010

We spent a few days at Onlsow, we went fishing and caught a few fish which we had for dinner, and we went for a drive to old Onslow, it was very hot and full of sand flys

Miraree Pool Rest Area 19th October 2010

Miraree Pool rest area is a stop over on the way to Exmouth it was so nice we ended up staying 2 nights and caught up on some school work

Cossack 18th October 2010

We went for a day trip to Cossack near Point Sampson, it was a beautiful historic town, we followed the history trail to see all the old buldings that were once there some had bee restored and made into a museum, Ebony decided to do a school project on the town and all its history

We spent a few days a Point Sampson, it was a beautiful spot, we went to the local tavern to have their famous seafood platter.

Free Camp Site 16th October 2010

We stopped at a Free Camp site on our way to Point Sampson, Hayden collected wood so we all sat by a bonfire at night

Munjina Lookout Rest Area 15th October 2010

We spent our first night away from Tom Price at the Munjina lookout rest area, it was a beautiful spot and Hayden got to make his shelter for his school work.

Weono George Handrail Pool 10th October 2010

We went for a day trip to Weono Gorge at Karajini National Park, we saw the most beautiful sights and climbed down into handrail pool which was a bit scary but well worth it, Ebony took her friend Chey and we all had a great day

My last day at The Visitor Centre!!! 7th October 2010

I worked at the Tom Price Visitor Centre for a few months with Anne the Manager and Natalia, they both made me feel so welcome and I will miss them both, I had a great time telling people where to go and I learnt so much about the area, but it was time to move on and be a tourist again

We met a wonderful couple Dick and Jude at the Caravan Park, they had been in Tom price for about a month longer than us and they were also working for the Shire, so we had on a farewell BBQ to Dick and Jude and The Longdon Family as they were leaving about the same time as us, so we hope to catch up with them down south somewhere, we met so many wonderful people at the caravan park and the kids made a lot of friends and had a great time, we are all really going to miss Tom Price, but we have some really great memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Mount Sheila!!! 25th September 2010

We all went for a drive up to Mount Sheila, it was the most beautiful view of nothing!!

Tom Price Pool Opening!!! 24th September 2010

Dave worked for three months getting the Tom Price pool ready to open, Steph helped out with the painting and Dave did the carpentry work needed to complete the job, we worked long hours to get it finished in time for the opening on the 24th of September, and it was all worth it in the end we all had a great day, the sun was shining and DJ Ray the Manager had the music playing away, the Shire put on a sausage sizzle, it was a great atmosphere and it all went off really well.

Ebonys 13th Brithday 11th September 2010

We had a lovely caravan site at Tom Price Caravan park, we really enjoyed our stay there, we met some lovely people and made some great friends.

We took Hayden for a little Drive on some of the back roads, he was so excitied and did very well, we came accross an explosion from the mine and a few cows along the way.

Dilan's Birthday Party 15th August 2010

Ebony and Hayden were invited to Dilan's Birthday Party, he lives at the caravan park in Tom Price near us, the party was held at the local Lions Park in Tom Price.

Tom Price Mine Tour 15th August 2010

We all went on the Local Tom Price Mine Tour, Jason got us some free tickets from his work, we all had to wear safety glasses and hard hat and we got to see lots of the big large trucks and all the different machinery and iron ore.

Nameless Festival 7th August 2010

Every year Tom Price has the Nameless Festival, its very similar to the Royal Show in Adelaide but on a smaller scale, there was lots of entertainment and rides and the kids had a great time, Dave was doing the cleaning at the festival keeping all the area clean and tidy.

We decided to go for a walk to the top of Mount Nameless, it was a nice day for a walk, it took us a while to walk up but it was a lot quicker going down.

We had a great day out at Kings Lake in Tom Price, we had a picnic with the Body Family, Selwin, Mary, Jason, Penny, Jasmine, Brian and Casey, I had to go to work in the morning at the information centre and then spent the rest of the day relaxing in the sun.

Sticky Poo !!!! 19th July 2010

Dave got some work with the Shire doing the cleaning of all the public toilets and offices at Tom Price, the usual cleaner went away on holidays for 5 weeks so Dave took the job, it was the funniest sight seeing him in his fluro top with his pink gloves cleaning the toilets, he did a great job and came accross plenty of nasty surprises and was amazed how the mens toilets always had sticky poo!!!! 

Karijini National Park July 17th 2010

We took the caravan for one night to stay at Dales Camp Ground at Karijini National Park, its about 120ks from Tom Price and it would have to be the most beautiful Gorge we have ever seen, we went for a walk down into the gorge and went swimming at Circular Pool and then walked along the bottom of the gorge until we got to Fortiscue Falls we stopped for a picnic lunch along the way and then walked onto Fern Pool, we had the most beautiful day, it is an oasis in the middle of nowhere.

Tom Price July 2010!!!

We arrived at Tom Price on the 14th of July 2010, our friends from Adelaide, Allan and Helen parents, Mary and Selwin live here so we gave them a call and they welcomed us into there home, we stayed out on their front yard for a few weeks and then was offered by Allans brother to stay at their house for a couple of weeks while they were on holiday, and then we went to the local caravan park to stay for a while, we were only in Tom Price for a few days and Dave got a job with the Shire doing some cleaning, so we decided to send the kids to the local school, Mary and Selwin have been so wonderful to us, they look after Jar Jar for us everyday and the kids are loving it here, I have even got some work with the shire at the Visitor Centre so it looks like we are here for a while, the weather is absolutely perfect her about 25 everyday so we are enjoying the sun before we go down south.

Hamersley Gorge 16th June 2010

 We went for a day trip to Hamersley Gorge, it was beautiful, the colours in all the rocks were amazeing, Hayden decided to go for a swim in the freezing cold water but he had a good time, we got a flat tyre on the way so Dave changed the tyre and off we went.

Munjina George Lookout 14th June 2010

On our way to Tom Price we stayed over night at the Munjina Gorge Lookout free camp site, we arrived late at night at sat outside looking at the stars for hours, it was the most beautiful night.

Happy Birthday Hayden!!!! 12th June 2010

Happy Birthday Hayden!! We were in Port Hedland for Haydens Birthday and all he wanted was a mud cake and to go out to an all you can eat resturant, as we turned the corner to go to the shops we saw a sign all you can eat chinese, he was so excited, on the morning of his birthday he got all his prescents including an ipod touch and then he had a nice big mud cake with all his friends he had made at the caravan park and we all sang happy birthday and then we went out for dinner, Hayden was so excited when he saw the all you can eat jelly, he had a great day

Port Smith, Fishing, Fishing and more Fishing!!!! 6th June 2010

Well we went for one night and stayed for a week, we had a ball, we went fishing everyday, we had entertainment, and the owner takes you out on his boat every second day to this island. Dave spent a whole day looking for mud crabs, he poked around all the crab holes with this steel rod and then he pulled them out with his hands, his first time ever he was so excited to finally eat mud crab, we caught enough fish for a week or more, Hayden was the champian fisherman and he let everyone know about it

Port Smith, Fish and Chip Night!!!! 3rd June 2010

We decided to head off to Port Smith Caravan Park because our neighbour in broome told us to go there, we had to travel 23km on a dirt road which doesnt sound like much but with the big van on the back it took forever, Port Smith is just a caravan park near the beach, there is nothing else for miles, we arrived on fish and chip night and were told we had to go, so off we went with our chairs and some drinks and it was all set up with fires and a band, it was a fantastic night, Hayden danced all night and played some games and Dave won 3rd prize in the raffle tickets

Days on the Beach at Broome!! 1st June 2010

We had the most beautiful sunsets on the beach at Broome, we went climbing around the rocks looking at hermit crabs, jellyfish, shells and lots of sea life, the kids had a great time, we stayed a week and we would have stayed longer but there is no dogs allowed in the peak season in any of the caravan parks, so off we went to Port Smith Caravan Park.
